Arabian Sea

fierce and angry she raged
telling us a story of her power
and choice to remain
what she is

dark, her waters reached
to grab whoever would be near
her shell littered shores
and take them
as an empty meal

through the night
and through the day
her waves screamed and argued
with the beach
who would stay?
who would go?

distraught in her place
wanting more
with a deep exhale
she reached into the sky
and came to us
as monsoon rain

in a thunderous scream
down she fell
hard and pure
down she fell
cooling the heat
the sun he gave
down she fell
feeding the green
and cleansing the land

gracefully retreating,
through spontaneous streams
back to her home aside the southern slopes
she will not escape
her true nature
as mother,
of us all.
